In 1984, in addition to traditional works, I subscribed in the XII Contemporary Salon of Art of Santo André a proposal for the execution of a panel containing reasons for the demand of direct elections in Brazil.
The panel, which measured 2.0 x 10.0m (6,56 x 32,9 ft.), was selected by the jury of selection and awards and alongside my requirements; there was a space for the public manifestation. The public space was fully filled on the opening day of the exhibition, and it was necessary to place a 1m high banner on all the walls of the exhibition hall of Santo André so that the public could continue its demonstrations.
Here is the text written by me on the panel:
Due to disrespect for the elementary rights of man!
" to the social injustices!
" to the lack of care health, food and education!
" to the violence on all levels!
“ to the northeast drought (which has a solution)!
" to the recession that only depletes us more!
" to the impunity in financial scandals!
" to the administrative incapacity of our rulers!
" to the lack of credit in the revolution of 64!
" to the lack of representation of the electoral college!
" to a biased national security law!
For everything that happened between 1962 and 1964 and that repeats to this day in greater proportions!
For my people, I demand direct elections now !!!
Note: I am not a communist.
